We talk a lot about the importance of building your core, but your Gluteus Maximus, Gluteus Medius and Gluteus Minimus muscles—AKA glutes—are also incredibly important. If your glutes are weak, your balance and posture can be thrown off and you’ll be more prone to pain and injuries.
Your butt muscles are some of the hardest working muscles in the body. They’re responsible for many physical moves you make daily, from moving your hip and thigh when walking to rising from a sitting position.
How do you know if your glutes are weak? Weak butt muscles contribute to and sometimes cause a number of common complaints:
- Back pain
- Hip pain
- Knee pain
- Abnormal gait
- Heel pain
Conversely, strong glutes can help prevent injuries and boost athletic performance. Glutes are the pelvic stabilizing muscles that keep the hips and pelvis in proper alignment during exercise.
Another benefit of strong glutes is aesthetics. Butts are in right now and in a big way. By working out your glutes on a regular basis, you’ll not only get the strength benefits, but you’ll look better in your jeans!
Bootybarre is one of the best classes you can take to work-out those glutes. Bootybarre is a fun, energetic, workout that fuses techniques from dance, Pilates and yoga. The class will tone, define and chisel your butt as well as your whole body. It’s the perfect combination of strength and flexibility with an added cardiovascular element utilizing the barre.
Advanced registration is required for our Bootybarre class, which is held every Thursday, 8-9 p.m. You can signup here.
